Now that the
It was a great summer for me musically, and at least twenty percent busier than I ever want to be again.
But stuff got done.
Christy Wessler's project, Angels Without Wings, is mixed and mastered and awaiting duplication. Same with Stewart Greisman and Sinus Rhythm's CD, Heartbeats. This was to be Stewart's 60th birthday present to himself and loved ones... but he became more generous as the project went on, putting more time and care in, making it a bigger, better present.
Stewart gets my Intuitive Professionalism award.
Bennett/Morris's CD, Mothership, is out and available on CD Baby... two voices (with Peggy Dennis), two guitars, seven songs, and a lot of heart and imagination.
It’s the first CD to come start to finish from my home recording setup, soundHouse, so some pride is allowed.
Bent Roses is Bill and Susan Roser and Scott Bennett (the name is like a compacronym). That CD, little thoughts and Big Ideas, is made up of songs Bill wrote between twenty and thirty years ago, and contains tracks recorded three years ago at our friend Rick Stockton's studio in Paonia, as well as some songs recorded in the living room here. It will be the first full length full band CD to be mixed and mastered here. Completion is days away at this writing, at which time, I will send away for the return of the unused portion of my life.
All very exciting.
Ellen Klaver's project has been 90% done for twelve years. I'm thrilled we're coming back to it, but the more we work, the lower the percentage, (new songs, new ideas). We have most of the vocals done now, a great accomplishment, and work continues at just the right pace.
I have so much respect for the way Lost Alamos is going about their project. It reminds me of my new joke:
"How many producers does it take to change a light bulb?"
"Does it have to be a light bulb?"
They're really letting me in on the ground floor of the songs, reworking them, and then learning the new versions to record. It's a longer path, but very true.
I'm still in touch with The Human Beams about a project for this year.
It ended up being twelve bands that I played with this summer...just my kind of trouble...and mercifully spared of automotive breakdowns, equipment failures, weather cancellations (though some could have just as easily been called off due to weather!)
I didn't even leave any equipment anywhere! (OK, a shirt...)
There seems to be no recession in the support people show for all of these musical endeavors. The people I work and play with range from really nice, talented, wonderful folks to the absolute best and most capable people on the planet. (Jim and Vickie Jones, you know who you are.) Anything I can do to enable their light to shine brighter and more widely in this world is a pleasure and a blessing to do.
Very good memories, very good times.
I enjoyed the fall we had this summer, and am fine with the winter we are having this fall.
More adventures to come...
Scott
Scott's first love is anything having to do with the 60's and British Invasion music, but he enjoys playing music from across generations and genres. His encyclopedic repertoire of thousands of songs, includes, but is not limited to every Beatles song ever written. You never know what Scott will do next. It could be anything. And be careful what you request, because there is the best chance he will play it, and invite you to come up and sing along at the mike.
Scott is a gifted musician with a singular knack and relentless passion for bringing out the heart of an audience, finding what it wants, and giving it to them, with joyous zeal.
